How To Wear A Scarf: The Twist and Tie

Tuesday December 2, 2014

A few years ago, I started associating the go-to method of tying a winter scarf (loop scarf, tuck ends through loop) with Tom Cruise. I couldn’t shake it.

So, I started looking into new ways to tie a scarf.

I like the twist and tie method because the scarf is pretty securely tied, without any loose ends getting in my way at the playground or dangling down during a hike. This works on both light scarves and thick scarves. A light scarf ends up loosely cradling your head, but a long, thick scarf will turn into a wool cocoon. Mmmm cozy.

1. First, drap your scarf over your shoulders.

2. Then, twist the ends around once or twice.

3. Split the ends and bring around to your back.

4. Tie together.

5. Rotate so twisted section is on the side. Fluff scarf.
