There are a LOT of trends floating out there, y’all. Flare jeans, high waists, long open vests, suede, fringed things, loafers, jumpsuits. It’s a lot to sort through.
So, I’m taking what I like, ignoring the rest (Hi, culottes. No.)
Since I started living out of one drawer in my closet, I’ve been forced to inspect all my purchases for style dexterity and quality. Getting by with only a few items means every piece needs to do double/triple duty. No item is allowed in that can’t handle a messy toddler ceramic class as well as brunch with Grandma.
I bring you: the Fall 2015 Wardrobe.
Woolrich Prescott Parka in Navy, Madewell et Sezanne Sweater, Orcival Long Sleeve Tee in Marine/Ecru, AQUA Valerie Plaid Shirt, Hinge Jacquard Stripe Scarf in Taupe, J Brand 620 Skinny Jeans in Seriously Black, Rag & Bone Dre Boyfriend Jeans, Frye Engineer Boots 12R in Gaucho, Cole Haan Alexa Penny Moc in Saddle Tan, Hunter Original Tall Rain Boots in Black, Sperry Seaside Perforated Sneaker in Black
Here’s how I plan to break it down.
Fall festivaling
I’m back to having given up on jackets as an every day solution. Chunky sweaters and blanket scarves will get me through the Fall.
Muddy toddler hike
The forecast is calling for an El Nino year for California. I’m putting all my yearnings and wishes into that being true. The parka isn’t waterproof (waterproof jackets tend to look like waterproof jackets and therefore not practical year round), but I can pair it with an umbrella for a wet toddler hike.
Toddler soccer
These slip on sneakers felt like slippers straight out of the box, and the perforated top makes them never too hot. The feeling of air swishing around your feet is pretty weird/awesome. The top is legit French, and therefore has an elegant yet interesting fit to it — boxy neck, slim on hips, almost dolman sleeves.
Grown-Up Mommy
Because sometimes when you’re a mom, you have to look like you have your life together. The patterned pastel scarf keeps things from looking too serious/straight-forward..
Casual brunch
Just slide over the coffee.
