The Kids Are Wearing Mom Jeans, Why Shouldn’t I?

Tuesday January 6, 2015

High-rise skinny jeans have been out there for years now, and until a few days ago, my take on them was a solid “ain’t no way.” I’ve seen enough pixie 20-somethings walking through the neighborhood wearing the high-waisted denim and stomach-baring, crop-top combo to know that A) I’m way too old for this trend and B) oh my God, I’m so old, what are you children wearing?

Y’all, I was wrong. Go out and buy them now. NOW. Because these things are transformative.

Yes, you will actually have to go to the Junior’s section of Macy’s to buy them. Hold your heads high, women, because these jeans will package you up, give you a waist, and then send you forth with nary a wrinkle, bump, or muffin-top. (In other words, perfect for hiding a mama pooch, not that you have one.)

The fabric is thick with a tight-weave, so they compress like a girdle. But with 2% elastic, the jeans move with you and stay at your waist. Say goodbye to hoisting up your saggy jeans or worrying whether you’re indecently exposing yourself at the playground. They just fit and mold and straighten. Oh, and they only cost $35. Get them.

(Needless to say, I wear mine with normal (re: stomach covering) sweaters and tops. This hides the high-waistedness of them, and sweaters lay perfectly smoothly down your midsection/hips.)

  1. I’ve been meaning to thank you for this post. I would NEVER have tried these otherwise and I agree they are incredible. Way more flattering than I would have thought and, even more surprising, much more comfortable than my regular jeans. BTW, I got mine at Zappos for the same price.
