Friday Link Roundup: SFPD Has Another Bad Week and Duchess Kate, Glamorous 70s Mom

Friday May 6, 2016

What are all of you up to this weekend? We’re all recovering from Dave’s work travel the past couple weeks, and planning on taking in the Hiller Aviation Museum. Have you been there? It looks like so much fun, and hopefully will satiate someone’s desire to “see airplane take OFF.” How about still and housed in an airplane hangar instead?

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there! I hope you get all the sloppy kisses, flowers, and food delivery a woman could ask for.

From around the web this week:

The situation with the SFPD isn’t looking great these days. First, SF now has the highest property crime rate per capita in the nation, and half of that is due to the five-year high in car break-ins. Go us. It turns out the SFPD doesn’t systematically dust for fingerprints when there IS a car break-in, and when Chief Greg Suhr sent out a bulletin that cops should start doing this, they openly revolted. And, to top it all off, the five hunger-strikers demanding his ouster over recent cop shootings are now being moved to a hospital to continue their hunger strike under medical care. Ooof, not great times, SF.

At least rents are still continuing to come down.

KQED put together an Infrequently Asked Questions info page about the new SFMOMA. It’s very informative! I’m very curious about the bathrooms now.

Did you all see Duchess Kate sporting your new mom uniform in Vogue UK? Can wide leg pants come back, they look so 70s-mom and comfy.

I never knew how much I wanted a Dutch mom’s cleaning wisdom. It’s all so…smart.

A funny and kind of amazing story — NY Mag made five novelists meet their neighbors and report back. (Go meet your neighbors, people! It’ll do you good.)

Related: very cute, New York.

Are you all watching “Full Frontal”? I feel like I might need to start, just to get me through this election cycle.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
