The Temporary Randall Museum at the Mission Art Center is Open!

Wednesday August 12, 2015

Good news, everyone. As of last month, the Randall Museum at the Mission Art Center is open!

The Randall Museum at Corona Heights will be under construction until late 2016. Until then, you’ll be able to find the animal exhibit, classes and drop-in classes at the Mission Art Center, located at 754 Treat Avenue in the Mission.

Bean and I finally got over there yesterday afternoon, and we were delighted to see all of the familiar animals in new digs. The temporary animal exhibit is bigger than their home in the Randall Museum, with large windows looking out over the atrium. We ogled starfish, searched for tree frogs, and pressed the giant quiz board buttons. The petting zoo is also there, with guinea pigs, a bunny, two chickens, and a duck. Even the raccoon was in high spirits, playing with a large box.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the model train exhibit made the move. Til next year, trains!

Once we were finished looking at all the animals, we made our way into the atrium playground. It was a nice, relaxing way to spend a sunny afternoon. Definitely think about it next time you’re home and wondering what to do with your brood.
