Friday Link Roundup: Old Timey SF Maps and Denim Sales

Friday September 18, 2015

Some ladies go to spas to relax, others like to hole themselves up in a one bedroom apartment for the weekend painting, woodworking, eating really bad take out food late into the night, and watching tragically predictable romcoms.

I’d be the latter. I cannot wait.

(And, yes, send Hulu and Amazon recommendations if you have them. If you were going to suggest ‘Madam Secretary,’ starring Tea Leoni as the Secretary of State having romantical/geopolitical problems involving her divinity professor/NSA operative husband, then 1) I like the way you think but 2) someone’s already beat you to it.)

As we speak, Dave is in the process of moving all of our furniture into one room while Bean does pirouettes in excitement.

Hope you all have a great weekend too! Wish me luck!

From around the web this week:

This interactive map of San Francisco from 1850 to today might jeopardize my productive weekend. SO COOL.

I really want to see ‘East Side Sushi,’ filmed in Oakland and about a Latina mother who wants to become a sushi chef. KQED’s Forum hosted director Anthony Lucero yesterday for an inspiring conversation.

SF’s pedestrian safety track record may be even worse than we thought. A new study about pedestrian injuries in San Francisco estimates that more than 60 percent of incidents aren’t reported to the SFPD.

As an avid Ikea hacker, Apartment Therapy’s platform storage bed Ikea hacks will be extremely useful some day. I’m pretty sure every city kid is required to grow up sleeping on top of a storage bed.

Last but not least, it’s Denim Days at Bloomingdales. Just in case you’re in need of a few hundred dollars worth of denim this Fall.
