Let’s Talk Toy Storage

Wednesday January 7, 2015

I’d say January is a good time to talk about what everyone does with all these toys.

We have a limited amount of space for (available) toys in the apartment. Bean has a selection of 6 or 7 toys/trays available to her on shelves, and we rotate them out on a weekly basis. That’s all fine and well. But, what to do with the toys when they’re not out?

So far, I’ve learned from my sister-in-law to keep toys in Ziploc bags; it’s an easy way to keep track of all the pieces that go together. This also works well for rotating in/out since we just grab the toy-filled Ziplocs to refresh the toy shelf.

The Ziplocs all live in Elfa white mesh drawers (used as baskets) on top of our wardrobes. This is the part that needs a bit (a lot) of editing or tweaking, because the Ziplocs are starting to unionize and are threatening an overthrow of our bedroom.

Internet, is this the best we can do? What is your toy storage system?

  1. I’ve tried a lot of ideas – bins, baskets, buckets, plastic folders and so on and so forth, but the truth is you can use everything as long as it is useful. Greetings, Storage Enfield Highway Ltd.
