112 Weddings

Wednesday October 22, 2014

Dave and I caught “112 Weddings” a few weeks ago on HBO. It’s a documentary by Doug Block (“51 Birch Street”, “The Kids Grow Up”) about the 112 weddings he has filmed as a wedding videographer, a job he picked up on the side to finance the documentaries he’s better known for.

In the documentary, he revisits the couples, some decades later, to see whatever happened to them. It was mesmerizing and haunting. I highly recommend it. Many of the couples are still together, some are now divorced. Some have lived blessed lives; others couldn’t foresee the tragedies coming. Videos of their wedding day, each one universally pulsing with emotion and joy, act as eerie foreshadowing of the events to come.

You can still catch it on HBO Go.
