J. Otto Seibold at the Contemporary Jewish Museum

Monday January 5, 2015

Next time you’re in Union Square, stop by the the Contemporary Jewish Museum for an exhibit on children’s book illustrator J. Otto Seibold. If you’re a parent, you’re likely already familiar with Mr. Seibold’s bird-catching, globe-trotting dog, Mr. Lunch.

Mr. Seibold lives in the East Bay and had a hand in creating the interactive museum exhibit. Kids can walk around with passports and collect stamps, board an airplane, and ride a canoe. The exhibit also displays original artwork and explores the history of Mr. Seibold’s characters and early exploration of digital art (he was the first illustrator to use digital media in a children’s book, in the 1990’s).

This would make for a perfect downtown outing with kids.

The exhibit runs through March 8, 2015. All children under 18 are free. If you stop by the San Francisco Public Library, you can also pick up a 2-for-1 adult admission coupon.
