Have a Good Weekend: Mavericks, El Nino, and More Bad Tech News

Friday February 12, 2016

It’s a day of fevers and puffy eyes, and so we’re all cuddled up on the sofa with pillows and blankets watching Mavericks.

How to be sick, California-style.

From around the web this week:

So, yes, go watch Mavericks surf competition now; what are you doing at work anyway?

This also seems like a good time to remind y’all to be careful out there on the beach. A man drowned in Pacifica this week trying to save his wife from a sneaker wave. They had been walking in just inches of water.

Also, this incredibly beautiful weather is not a sign El Nino is over. This happens every February, and the rains will return next week.

Oh, and we might actually get some Dungeness crab this year? The warnings are slightly alarming though.

California really is a leader in clean power. Good job, state!

There was some new in-fighting about the corporate shuttle bus (aka Google bus) program. The Board of Supervisors are split!

Speaking of all those tech corporations, SFist did a roundup of all this week’s bad tech news. And they didn’t even include Yelp, Uber, Pandora and Airbnb‘s not-great news.

If you’ve also been confused about Einstein’s theory that was proven this week, here it is a cartoon explainer.

Also, if you still haven’t gotten your boo some Valentine’s chocolates yet, the New York Times suggests a better idea: ditch the box chocolates for a chocolate dessert. Oh, yes please. (Dave got ours at Oakland’s Sweet Bar. Delicious! And beautiful!)

Have a great weekend, everyone!
