Any plans this weekend? It is shaping up to be a relaxing weekend around here. Swim classes and playgrounds, and fog passing through every evening. Bean even just had her first ever (almond milk) ice cream sundae. Summer is certainly here.
From around the web this week:
San Francisco can be a weird city to live in. This week: the daily routines of Task Rabbits, including pre-dawn, pre-work day dance parties in the Richmond. Why aren’t you people sleeping?
In continuing sad news, marine mammals continue to wash up on our beaches. This week: a dolphin.
Speaking of wild life in SF, there’s a mountain lion roaming our streets. Literally. Be careful out there!
It’s a wild life kind of theme today, California is close to passing a bill to completely ban the sale of ivory in CA. You can do it, California legislature! (Here’s Jon Stewart’s fantastic break down and discussion of the ivory trade here)
Or, maybe just a nature theme: have you been hearing all the talk about a warm blob in the Pacific Ocean causing our drought and marine mammal die-off? It’s pretty dramatic, and the scientists don’t exactly mince words. Related, we may experience a (huge, godzilla, massive) El Nino this upcoming year because of it.
Moving on, as of today, cars can no longer drive on Central Park’s West Drive. I hope Mayor Ed Lee and SF Rec and Parks are taking notes!
I have told all you parents out there to read Amalah’s advice column on Alphamom, yes? She’s been killing it recently: parenting books for dads, how to corral Legomania, whether to red shirt your future kindergartner, and advice for traveling with toddlers.
Also other parents: GapKids and babyGap is having a huge sale right now (it seemed the entire store itself was on sale, and all sale items are 50% off). Go stock up!
