If you aren’t already an Apartment Therapy fanatic, I might have to turn you into one. The 11th Annual Small Cool Contest, where readers’ submit their tiny homes to judgment, criticism, and online adoration, is one of my favorite things of the year. Like March Madness for the apartment decor set.
The contest splits entries up by square footage: teeny tiny, tiny, little, and international. My mind is blown every year by what people are able to accomplish in such small homes.
So far this year, I keep coming back to Maria’s Maisonette because I’m having trouble understanding how she has created such an airy spacious home, all with two little boys. It is simple and glorious and happy. But, where are all the toys? Where are their high chairs? Where are the thousands of baby knick-nacks we’ve managed to clutter our home with over the past two years?? It boggles the mind. This other Maria needs to start an online class on de-cluttering homes. (For now, I see that one closet on her floor plan and choose to believe it looks like Monica’s secret closet.)
I love the contest for the voyeurism (obviously) but I always get a ton of good real-world ideas from it.
I’m assuming you have loads of free time and absolutely nothing else to do this month, so head on over. What apartments are you obsessing over?
