Photo of the Day: Winter Showers

Thursday March 15, 2012

It’s been raining, you guys. Raining so much. It’s hard to imagine that 6 years ago, I would brace against Manhattan’s polar winds just to get some sushi rolls for lunch.  Or that just two years ago, I would walk a mile to work, in a foot of snow, and think nothing of it.

I’ve become a delicate California flower, unsure of just what to do with myself when the skies aren’t sparkling blue. I mean, how do you even go to the supermarket if it’s raining outside?

I walked past this California Mountain Lilac today, clouded in a fog of mist and rain.  Honey bees and bumble bees were busily feeding on its nectar. A man in a top hat and damp trench coat broke his stride for a second to take it all in too, then continued on his way. For just a moment, all this winter rain didn’t seem so bad.
