Apparently, it’s motor week here at Far Out City. I ran into this orange Vespa on the way to the post office yesterday.
How do we all feel about desaturated photos? As you may have figured out, I like a lot of color. San Francisco is so naturally colorful and bright that I never considered any other way of photographing it. But, I saw a photographer’s work yesterday that consisted mainly of desaturated and high contrast images. It was quietly stunning, showcasing all of San Francisco’s paint-flaked imperfections (not all Victorians are well kept) (that is an understatement) (I’ve considered starting a photo series showcasing SF’s hoarder apartments, as seen from street level and through the large glass windows that are a hallmark of our architecture. But I’m worried that’d be mean).
I don’t know if I can pull desaturation off though. Does the Vespa look a little sad to you? Or more philosophical and gritty?
