First things first, this here is a crushed, fresh blackberry milkshake from Whitey’s Jolly Kone in Sacramento.
Take a moment to savor that. Both, the idea of a fresh blackberry milkshake, and an ice cream shop called Whitey’s Jolly Kone. With a K.

I don’t have a blog roll, so I wanted to take a moment to give a few shout outs across the Internet.
First, a special shout out and thanks to Sylvie at Sly Wit and Worth the Detour, who included me in her list of city blogs. Blush. She’s real smart, y’all. You should head on over there and experience her eloquence and literary insight first hand. On her Worth the Detour blog, she’s documenting her travels to all the U.S. National Parks. Bookworms and domestic travelers unite!
Second, a thanks to Chef Jeff at Cooking PHD for including my list of Bay Area festivals in his round up of useful SF websites. Jeff may have a Phd, he may have been a contestant on Season 2 of MasterChef, and he may be a super foodie who can also cook. But, Jeff also creates custom Google Maps of his favorite restaurant finds. Slow clap for super geeky foodie habits.
And a shout out to Jenna at No Name Farm/Ranch. Jenna’s actually a friend of a friend, who I recently met in the virtual sense. The short of it: Jenna lives next door to Tim Riggins, built her own house, has a goat named Jolene, and a rooster named Lord Grantham. (Although, Lord Grantham’s MIA now, after an evening spent rummaging around in the wrong hen house. Not a euphemism.) She’s basically ruining the curve for the rest of us. And I didn’t even mention the flock of baby goats…go check her out.

Thanks for the shout out. Loved your “What You Need to Know Before…” post. I’m taking advantage of a business trip and heading out shortly to cross 3 national parks off my list and was shocked (shocked!) when I realized it would be in the mid-80s for most of the time!

It’s been downright unsettling to feel so warm. I had to dust off my flip flops. Can’t wait to read about the next three national parks!
