Have you caught any episodes of PBS’s hilarious “Everything But The News?” Dave and I stumbled upon the series one night on Hulu’s PBS Channel last year, and we were both doubling over laughing, tears streaming down our faces, within minutes.
In “Everything But The News,” Steve Goldbloom follows all of the latest SF tech news and start ups, usually to highly comedic effect. Each episode is around 2 to 3 minutes long, and involves Mr. Goldbloom interviewing tech entrepreneurs while look wide-eyed at the camera. (Like the time he followed up with the guys behind the black v-neck t-shirt app. Or, when he traveled down to L.A. to meet with YouTube content producers. A recurring theme is Mr. Goldbloom putting his mom on speakerphone while the entrepreneurs describe their product.)
Especially if you live in SF and feel inundated with tech these days, this is a hilarious respite from tech and San Francisco’s fraught relationship. If you don’t live in SF, “Everything But The News” fairly accurately captures this moment in San Francisco life.
(Definitely start in chronological order. Here’s the first episode, first season: A Report From Vidcon. (Episode 2 pays a visit with Uber, Lyft, and Sidecar…)
