Do you have guilty pleasures for when you find yourself home alone, with no spouse and no (or sleeping) kids?
Dave has started joking that I actually like when he goes out of town for a night or two. It’s not true, of course.
(But it’s not entirely untrue either).
My ritual so far includes:
1) Incredibly sugary cereals (enter here Cap’n Crunch, Fruit Loops, and Lucky Charms) and ordering Chinese delivery to last the duration of his trip. If it’s a very long business trip, I’ll throw in some Whole Foods bakery desserts. Because I deserve it. (The downright luxury of eating these foods might make more sense after I remind you that we’re a no-dairy, no-soy, no-egg food intolerant house.)
2) I scan Hulu, Amazon Prime, and HBO for the sappiest movies the week before, so as not to waste any precious home alone time looking for movies. (I was a projectionist at movie theaters for years. I will watch anything. And I will very certainly watch anything with Melissa McCarthy, Paul Rudd, Amy Adams, Tina Fey, Ryan Reynolds, or Sandra Bullock.)
3) Bean gets tucked into bed (early), kisses, lights out, door closed.
4) I put on pajamas and sweatshirts, and settle in for the night on the sofa, eating whatever bowls of junk food I want.
Please tell me I’m not alone. You guys all do this too, right?
