Have a Great Weekend: Super Bowl City Closures Begin and Downton Abbey

Friday January 15, 2016

So…does anyone have advice on a child finally dropping their nap? We’ve been dealing with a Growth Spurt to end all Growth Spurts for the past couple weeks (sleeping like a teenager, eating like a teenager, suddenly outgrowing every single pair of shoes in a 4 mile radius, a lot of…personality..suddenly coming through.) Then this week hit, and suddenly there’s no napping? Does that sound right? Is there hope left or is this now my life?

For those of you who’ve gone through this and successfully emerged on the other side, what do you do with a child all day? Most importantly, when do you sneak-eat all the candy and junk food?

From around the web this week:

Lots of stories this week on the planned Super Bowl City closures, which begin this weekend with the F-line getting replaced by buses. The SFMTA put together a simple map of road closures. BART released a statement on which station entrances/exits will remain open and how BART plans to handle the increased ridership. In all the festivities will have 3 weeks worth of disruptions in and around the Embarcadero.

Oh, and the Super Bowl Committee is also placing these tacky/lovely signs around our city’s landmarks. Obviously, they’ve already been defaced and vandalized. Just as obviously, they’ve already been cleaned up.

The on-street parking situation, color coded by neighborhood, in SF. This explains why my friends in Nob Hill have all gotten rid of their cars.

An interesting economic argument for why it might be a bad idea to buy in SF, especially if you work in tech.

In totally unrelated news, this black sock tip really does work on your black slip-on sneakers and booties.

Oh, London, we feel you.

These Downton Abbey recaps are hysterical, from writers you may recognize fromTWoP.

If you haven’t sang/shouted/cried along to “Lady Stardust” this week, now’s your chance. Oh, God, how I’ve loved that song.
