What’s up for all of you this weekend? We’ve really gotten into family baseball these days. Even better, Bean has pffted at the T-ball setup and insists on pitching/hitting. Mix that with Dave’s actual baseball ability and my I-played-lacrosse-in-Middle-School confidence, and hilarity ensues.
From around the web:
Good news for SF-based Warriors fans: the Planning Commission approved the new Warriors arena in Mission Bay this week.
It’s been bad news all week about Dungeness crab season. A Pacific Coast algae bloom means crabs are full of a deadly neurotoxin. The CA Fish and Game Commission just shut down the recreational crab fishing season (until tests show no toxins), and is expected to do the same for the commercial crab season too.
For your weekly SF housing crisis ha-has, the Bold Italic put together a map showing where else you could be living, for the same price. Hmmm, Twin Peaks or the Champs-Elysee? Inner Mission or Santorini? Decisions, decisions.
The New York Times did another 36 Hours in San Francisco. It all centered around sometimes gritty establishments on the Embarcadero, Mission/Bernal, and Inner Sunset. I’ll certainly sign off on that! (For comparison’s sake, the last time the paper wrote a 36 Hours in San Francisco in 2011, it was slightly more touristy with Embarcadero, Crissy Field/Cow Hollow, and both the Park Chalet AND Cliff House. I also approve, for very different reasons. (Seriously, tourists, you cannot go wrong with Crissy Field and the Presidio on a nice day.))
This Apartment Therapy question made me laugh: Do the Rooms in Your Home Have Names? YES, THEY DO. But, it’s all talking about 8 bedroom mansions; meanwhile, Dave and I stutter over the weirdo 5×5 ft rooms in our one bedroom apartment. We need to give them each grandiose names with placards ASAP.
We’ve been having a ton of fun with this paper airplane book — it even comes with stickers to decorate them with! Highly recommended for you and your energetic toddler.
Also, lots of sales this weekend. Nordstrom Fall Clearance Sale. Gap is giving clothes away again (40% off EVERYTHING). And you should get cozy with West Elm’s sale section, which is currently an additional 20% off.
