I wanted to do this when everything was finally in place (stack of library books 86’d for something involving reclaimed wood, mercury glass, and fresh cut flowers….or a rug or whatever) but I just forwarded these photos to a friend and thought you all might like to see a quick sneak peek of all the work we’ve been doing. We’re not finished, but it’s so very nearly there.
SO, the big difference is that we got a Murphy bed. Or, better yet, built ourselves a Murphy bed. Our old bedroom is now our new living room. Wanna see?
First up: Old Bedroom

I know, it’s kind of annoying to do a before/after when one is a poorly lit camera photo. It’s all I got, and the room really did look like that, ebony wood stained walls, mismatched windows, and all. I painted the walls the darkest brown I could find to hide the hideous fireplace (note: not actually a fireplace) and put the bed in front of the windows to hide the windows. This room was all about hiding the ugly.
Here it is as of this morning:

Taken at the same angle. It feels like an entirely different apartment. I’ll share all the details later. For now, can you spot the Murphy bed?
