A Nail Polish to Transition You to Spring

Thursday March 26, 2015

We are having a bit of a heat wave in San Francisco, while the East Coast is bracing yet again for more snow. So, I’m dusting off my summer wardrobe here, and I’m sure a lot of you out there are itching to do the same. The problem is, of course, the climate hasn’t exactly caught up to your sartorial wishes.

I’ve recently gotten into the idea of using nail polish to soften or harden up an outfit. It’s like a semi-permanent accessory, that you can use to balance out an overly preppy outfit or an overly goth outfit or, in this case, an overly summer-y outfit. It’s a sneaky way to get around a minimalist wardrobe.

Today, I used some Revlon Iconic to ground everything back to mid-March.

This shade doesn’t really look like anything in the bottle. Like a dull charcoal grey. But once it’s on…

Oh, hello midnight teal. The dark hue brings in a little edge and a little winter. The bright teal undertone hints at summer. (You can imagine how if I was wearing a happy coral or yellow, that this would read mid-July at the beach.)

(Revlon nail polish is also very mom-friendly. It literally dries in minutes, and you can even get away with one coat.)

What polishes are you wearing these days?

  1. My niece got me dark purple for Christmas. I’ve been dying to wear it but I’m not sure it’s appropriate for work. The paint is definitely going on my toes though-that’s safe for now since I’m on the East coast and it’s not open toe shoe season time.

  2. Do it on a weekend!! Weekend nails! I think purple would look awesome in the between-seasons too.
