Did any of you catch the rainbow around the moon Wednesday night? It is apparently called a “corona.” The rainbow halo is caused by the diffraction of moonlight across tiny water droplets in a cloud.
[It was technically very hard to photograph. The clouds were moving fairly quickly, and you kind of need things to sit still for a second in order to take a good night shot. This photo only kind of does it justice. If you’re a photographer, I’d love to hear how you would have shot this.]
