Photo of the Day: Lotus

Tuesday July 17, 2012

An other-worldly lotus flower popped up in front of City Hall a few months ago, courtesy of artist Choi Jeong Hwa. In person, it undulates and sways in the wind. A marked contrast to the staid and fussy City Hall dome.

  1. Great photo of the lotus!

I think it’s my favorite piece they’ve put there since I’ve been here. It just makes me happy when I see it blowing in the wind.

  2. Thanks! Totally agree. It transforms the whole plaza. The first time I saw it, I was completely stunned. Followed by the slow, painful realization that I didn’t have my camera on me. The Murphy’s Law of Photography: the one day you forget your camera, you’ll be blown away by something beautiful. (At Civic Center Plaza no less!)
