Friday Link Roundup: ‘Silicon Valley’ Cracks Us Up and Some Insane Photography

Friday March 25, 2016

I’m currently working on my website while eating a hot bowl of cioppino from Tadich Grill. I am the San Francisco stereotype.

Do you have any fun plans this weekend? For a family that doesn’t celebrate Easter for another month (Orthodox Easter), we’ve got a weekend of Easter Egg Hunts and Easter Sunday barbecues lined up. (And, no, these barbecues don’t include lamb roasting on a spit. I know. Not even for Easter! Maybe my uncles should teach classes on how to perfectly roast lamb.)

Happy Easter to all of you celebrating it this weekend. Happy day-after discounted candy to the rest of us.

From around the web this week:

Awesome news for those of you who like to bike and live in the Castro and Mission: 72 new bike share locations are coming to the neighborhood. The coverage is actually amazing. Go, Bay Area Bike Share!

In funny/terrifying/sad/depressing/?!(@#^@O news: Palo Alto will now allow families making up to $250k/year to qualify for public housing.

From Wired: Silicon Valley Stars Guess What Real Startups Do. Had me laughing out loud. Zach Woods is so surprisingly funny.

Also, in SF, new restaurant As Quoted is here for all of us on a dairy-free, soy-free, nut-free, or gluten-free diet. Glory be.

London now has an army of pigeons that will come inspect your neighborhood’s air quality, by Twitter request. (This is still second best to eagles being trained to bring down drones in The Netherlands.)

My new, not-actually-warm-San Francisco-Summer-approved sandals.

These winners of the Smithsonian Magazine Photo contest are insane.

Also in totally freaking insane photography this week, a photographer set out to capture ancient trees around the world. The results are downright stupefying.
