Sorry, site, I played hooky today to take my little Bean to her first baseball game at AT&T Park.
She woke up from her nap in the bottom of the fifth, sized the place up and was all, “Oh? There’s clapping?”
A half gallon of lemonade later, First Giants Baseball Game certificate and brand new SF Giants panda bear in hand, she was practically our section’s mascot. Cheering, clapping, toddler-lisping “LET’S GO GIANTS” and dancing in the aisles after their win.

I can’t say enough about the hospitality of everyone at AT&T Park. I’m so used to fighting my way through the city with a toddler that I was almost reduced to tears at how lovely everyone in our section was towards Bean.
The usher gave me clear directions to follow him after a foul ball (“wait for the calm after a foul ball, then we’ll make our move”) and then insisted on carrying the stroller down himself. A couple of dads behind us were nearly as excited as we were when they found out it was Bean’s first baseball game, giving me details on how to get her First Game Certificate (!!!) and directions to the secret family bathroom. Everyone was happy to take photos for me and someone even performed a rendition of panda bear singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” while doing pirouettes.
I’ve been reluctant to root for San Francisco teams all these years. (Come on, me? A Niner’s fan? What’s next, rooting for Dallas?) Once you grow up a Philadelphia sports fan, you can’t really look back.
Well, I bought a Giants cap on the way out.

If you go and it’s your kid’s first baseball game, DEFINITELY pick up a First Game Certificate because it is the cutest thing ever. Go to Guest Services on the 100-level, tell them your child’s name, and they’ll print one out in seconds. The certificate comes in a large envelope with a photo of the team and stadium.
AT&T Park, you’re so freaking classy.
