Friday Link Roundup: August Rolling to a Stop

Friday August 21, 2015

Did you know that once you live in San Francisco, you can never go back? It’s true. Another good friend of ours is moving back. We are all fog-adoring, hill-climbing, artisan-toast-eating addicts.

We have a slew of plans coming together this Fall, so these last slow weeks of August are starting to feel like the calm before all the wide-ranging excitement. Out of town visitors, vacation plans, apartment renovations. Remind me to stick my toes in the sand a little bit longer, because it’s going to be a hustle once we reach September.

From around the web this week: (not much news in these last weeks of August, so stick with me here)

This had me laughing in tears: My Brain, The All-Hands Meeting

San Francisco’s Rose Pak is suffering from kidney failure / well enough to colorfully lament San Francisco politics.

Speaking of which, I forgot to link to this Priceonomics piece on SF median rents. I may have forgotten because it’s so depressing and surreal.

And then Business Insider wrote about SF’s “epic” housing crisis this week, arguing that, yes, this is a bubble.

Apartment Therapy warns what it’s like to date the design obsessed. Mostly agree (wouldn’t we all run if someone e-mailed us in Comic Sans?), but they forgot the midnight furniture arranging and living with ever-present paint chips taped to the wall, all indistinguishable hues of white.

This Indian-spiced corn soup was deeeeelicious and super easy. Great way to celebrate the last of this year’s corn harvest.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
