Saturday Reading Round-up

Saturday August 24, 2013

I hope your weekends are off to a great start. Our mission this weekend: baby proofing. How did we get here so fast? Bean is up on all fours, rocking to and fro with what can only be described as a maniacal grin spread across her face. It’s like the start of a race, and the finish line is me and Dave in a anxiety-ridden heap while Bean gleefully mashes cat food int0 the electrical sockets.

— SF bike share stations are here!! Be careful out there, though. Here’s a primer on right turns and bike lane rights of way.

Huge ears in Soeul lead straight to the mayor’s office. Can we get some of these? MAYOR LEE, I HAVE IDEAS.

— No one’s saying that this downtown parking map is why Detroit is in bankruptcy. Causality/correlation, etc. But, also, it’s kind of unbelievable..

— China continues to do awesome and mind boggling things with skyscrapers. Oh, this would never pass the San Francisco Planning Commission would never approve this.

— Buying these Keds will instantly transform me from older mom to a gamine 20 yr old in the West Village, right? I thought so.

— Did you know The Real World is coming back to San Francisco? SFist has shots of the interior…which looks more circus-themed soundstage than home. Which is fitting.

— This article on an artist turned fake philanthropist is mesmerizing, for the audacity.

— A 54,000 acre forest fire is raging near Yosemite. It looks devastating.

— Finally, be careful out there. Governor Brown has issued a State of Emergency for San Francisco due to the fire.
